AUSTIN (AP) - Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton is testifying before Texas lawmakers about his investigation of videos in which Planned Parenthood officials discuss how to harvest tissue for research from aborted fetuses.

The state Senate Health and Human Services Committee hearing Wednesday comes as U.S. Senate Republicans plan a vote to block federal aid to the women's health provider. Democrats call it the latest GOP effort to weaken women's health care programs.

Texas is one of a number of Republican-controlled states that have launched investigations after the release this month of videos covertly recorded by an anti-abortion group. Planned Parenthood has said it has done nothing illegal or improper.

Planned Parenthood officials are among those invited to testify before the Texas Senate committee, but it's unclear that they'll accept.
