Dallas Man Burned Trying To Stop Fire

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Officials with Dallas Fire-Rescue are investigating a case of a man who was burned just outside of his house. It happened at about 1:00 a.m. early Wednesday in the 7100 block of Arborcrest Drive, in the Red Bird area of Dallas.

The fire was started by an unknown person just outside of the home. Pictures later showed charring on the front of that house, near the garage. Arson investigators were at the scene early Wednesday morning to gather evidence. They stated that some type of accelerant was poured before the fire started.

The home's owner was not there when the fire began, but he arrived shortly afterward and saw the flames. While trying to stomp out the fire, the received burns on his leg.

The victim was taken to Parkland Hospital for treatment and is expected to recover. His name has not been released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials have not given any information about that person who first started the fire, or why they could have been targeting this particular home.
