FORT WORTH — A suspect is in custody after a "major" accident resulted in the victim being ejected from their vehicle.

Northwest Division officers responded to an accident in the 2100 block of Jacksboro Highway at approximately 9:22 p.m. on Saturday.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a suspect vehicle collided with the victim's vehicle, causing the victim to be ejected. The suspected driver of that vehicle, 25-year-old  Jose Maximino Ramirez Olmedo, ran from the scene before officers arrived.

Fort Worth police said a witness identified Ramirez Olmedo and said he was traveling southbound on Jacksboro Highway and ran a red light at a high rate of speed.

The victim's vehicle was attempting to make a left-hand turn from a parking lot when it was hit by Ramirez Olmedo's vehicle.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where they later died. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the manner and cause of death, as well as the victim's identity, once next of kin has been notified.

Ramirez Olmedo was arrested later that night and charged with accident involving death. He was booked into the Tarrant County Jail where he remains on a $20,000 bond.

Fort Worth Police Department's Traffic Investigation Unit has been alerted and will investigate the incident.
