Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Hit And Run Driver

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- A man is in Dallas police custody after he allegedly hit and killed a pedestrian in Lake Highlands on Sunday.

According to police, the victim was crossing the street in the 7200 block of Skillman (not in the cross walk).

The suspect, Angel Lopez-Gil, 22, was driving a Saturn Ion southbound on Skillman when he struck the pedestrian.

The victim became lodged under the vehicle. The vehicle came to a stop on Watercrest Parkway.

The suspect then continued to drive off in the area and subsequently abandoned his vehicle.

Officers eventually captured the suspect and took him into custody. He is being questioned by investigators and will be subsequently charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aid

The name of deceased victim has not been released.
