21-Year-Old Dies After Being Hit By Drunk Driver

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - 21-year-old Eunice Chavez died early Sunday morning after being hit by a drunk driver on North Central Expressway in Dallas.

According to police, Chavez was a passenger in a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run accident.

According to police, Chavez and the driver pulled onto the center island between the main lanes of the freeway and the exit ramp lanes to call 911.

Police said Chavez and the driver got out of the vehicle and stood on the median.

According to police, Chavez was then struck by a maroon Audi.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene, but was located by a patrol officer in the left lane of Skillman Street at Northwest Highway according to police.

Police said the location of the damage on the suspect vehicle matched the description of the damage at the scene where Chavez was struck.

The suspect was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for Intoxication Assault according to police.
