PD Searching For Hit & Run Driver As 73-Year-Old Recovers
ARLINGTON (CBS 11 NEWS) - Arlington police are searching for the driver who hit an elderly man out taking a walk and then fled the scene.
The skid marks show where a blue-colored Chevy Cavalier missed a turn, jumped the curb and hit pedestrian Terry Pinkston. The impact sent the 73-year-old flying more than 30 feet.

Pinkston recalled what happened immediately after being run down. "Then a guy that lives in the Cliffs Apartments and his girlfriend came down, climbed the fence, jumped over it and started applying pressure to the head wound and probably saved me. They called 911."
Pinkston's injuries left him with 20 stitches in his head, four broken ribs, a broken pelvis and three cracked vertebrae.
Witnesses describe the car that hit Pinkston as an indigo blue, two-door Cavalier – believed to be a 1999 or 2000 model.
Pinkston was walking along Ascension Boulevard in north Arlington when the car hit him.
Arlington resident Hilda Rodriguez explained that the area is constantly busy with pedestrian traffic. "It's very active. There's people walking around here everyday, getting exercise and we bring our kids here to the park."
In addition to the busy pedestrian areas, there is also a high volume of vehicular traffic along Ascension.
For many, hearing the news that a car hit Pinkston affirmed their concerns about foot and car traffic being so close. Resident Nylene Hilton said, "It's kind of dangerous coming down here in a wheelchair, too. Because people don't slow down, it seems like they speed up."
Rodriguez is now rethinking her outdoor activities. "It just makes me worried now to be walking around. I guess you have to be extra careful, but it's worrisome for sure."
Pinkston's injuries are very serious but doctors are hoping that, after an additional surgery to a gash on his leg and lengthy physical therapy, he will make a full recovery.
From his hospital bed, Pinkston had a message for the driver who fled the scene. "It'd be nice if you come forward and tell about it, because we're going to find you, hopefully."
Investigators want people to be on the lookout for the car in question. Officials say the Chevy Cavalier will have damage to the front end and possibly a broken windshield. Arlington police are asking that anyone with information about the driver, the crash, or who may have in the area along Ascension Boulevard on Saturday morning around 7:30 to contact police at 817-459-5635.
