PD: Rowlett Couple Died In Murder-Suicide
ROWLETT (CBSDFW.COM) - Police say a Rowlett couple found deceased in their home died in an apparent murder-suicide the day before Father's Day.
The couple, identified as 35-year-old Brandon McClain and 30-year-old Amanda Todhunter, was discovered Sunday by McClain's mother, who became concerned when he didn't show up to his son's baseball game on Saturday.
Police say the couple had recently broken up and Todhunter had moved out of the home, located on Luna Drive, near Lake Ray Hubbard, two weeks ago.
According to authorities, Todhunter used a Glock .45 to shoot McClain and then turned the gun on herself. Both Todhunter and McClain died of gunshot wounds to the head.
Friends told CBS11's Susy Solis that the couple had been together about a year.
"From talking to her friends, she was having a difficult time with the split up. So she was wanting to go back over to talk to him to reconcile," said Lt. David Nabors from the Rowlett Police Department.
On May 24, McClain had called police to the home to report Toddhunter had threatened to kill herself. She left the home before police arrived, and they were not able to locate her.
McClain was a 13-year veteran of the Navy, and worked as a special operations recruiter for the Dallas district for the past few years. He had just received orders to move to San Diego.
Both McClain and Todhunter had two children from different relationships.
