WEATHERFORD (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Weatherford have arrested an 18-year-old boy for allegedly touching a middle school-aged girl inappropriately.
Police say it was Monday when the teen, later identified as John Michael Hoffman, went to the Weatherford City Library. The mother of a young girl, also at the library, went to police after her daughter said someone had touched her.
The girl claimed a person she didn't know started talking to her and said he was a college student. Weatherford police Commander Chris Crawford explained, "While she was at the Weatherford City Library, a white male subject had approached her in the teen section and told her that he was studying skin tones."
The girl told her mother the person had touched her under her clothes with his hands.
When a police detective went to the library one day later an employee said they had seen someone matching the description of the suspect. After learning that person was Hoffman, detectives located and later interviewed him at police headquarters.
Investigators say it was during the interview that Hoffman confessed to the inappropriately touching. The 18-year-old was subsequently arrested and charged with Indecency with a Child with Sexual Contact.
Hoffman is being held in the Parker County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
