FORTH WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A crash on a major Fort Worth highway left one person dead and lanes of traffic closed Thursday morning.
The accident, involving an SUV and an 18-wheeler, happened along Interstate-30, near Montgomery.
Just after 6:00 Thursday morning, a wrecker was at the scene and working to get the big rig towed. Until the tractor-trailer can be moved two lanes of I-30 remain closed.
The SUV involved was towed earlier. Police say it was that driver who slammed into the back of the 18-wheeler. The semi was parked on the shoulder of the highway at the time.
The driver of the SUV died at the scene. It's not clear if that person was speeding or if alcohol may have been a factor. Investigators are working to answer those questions and also figure out why the 18-wheeler was stopped on the side of the highway.
Early morning traffic wasn't negatively impacted by the crash, but that could change as rush hour nears.
