"Park And Stay" Criticized In Plano

PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - James Mitchell says he has walked out to the same sight every morning for six months.
A white sedan that never seems to move.
"I think it sad for the city of taking advantage of city property," says Mitchell.
Mitchell lives in the Shops at Legacy residential retail village.
He says the white sedan stuffed with someone's belongings has been parked here since last summer despite complaints from residents.
"It's a little sketchy after situations awhile ago with the girl that went missing you never know with a vehicle like this could be part of a crime," says Mithcell.
Parking around the popular Shops at Legacy is so coveted, most businesses have signs limiting vehicles to 15 minutes.
But when someone takes a no limit space to an extreme, the City of Plano says there's little that can be done about it.
"As long as it's on a public street and as long as it's a legally operating vehicle then it can stay on the street," says city spokesperson Steve Stoler.
If police determine a vehicle can't move because of a flat tire or if it's an eyesore because of broken windows or if it's leaking oil, they can put a warning sticker on it and eventually tow it.
