One Man Injured In Overnight Road Rage Shooting
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (CBSDFW.COM) - There has been yet another road rage shooting in North Texas. This one happened at about 2:15 a.m. early Wednesday in North Richland Hills. According to police, Joey Andrews was driving along Loop 820 when he was shot in the arm following an apparent altercation near Holiday Lane.
"All I remember was seeing a flash. The window was shattered and when I finally looked over, my arm was already bleeding from being shot," said Andrews. "It was instantaneous pain. I just could not believe it had happened."
Reports said that the gunshot came from a white SUV whose driver was wearing a white ball cap. The suspect has not yet been identified, and no further description of the shooter or the vehicle has been released. Authorities are still investigating the case and searching for the gunman. A single shell casing was found on the freeway.
The 33-year-old posted a message to friends on Facebook later Wednesday morning. "I was shot thru the forearm by a road rager on the way home from work," he stated in the social media post. "I'm at JPS. I'm stable and ok."
After he was shot, Andrews said he tried to chase the driver for a bit, but his arm was not well enough to continue.
"I flashed the lights at him to let him know he needed to calm down, but that wasn't probably the best choice," described Andrews, who pulled off of the highway and into the parking lot of a Waffle House to seek help.
"I needed someone with a tourniquet cause I was in bad shape. So I pulled up to the Waffle House and yelled for someone to call 911," he said.

Several people at the restaurant were able to jump into action, including Army veteran Ryan Leonard, who was there having a cup of coffee. His prior combat experience gave him the tools to help Andrews. "A girl had a lanyard for a keychain, so I cut it off and tied a tourniquet around his forearm," Leonard said. "He'd been shot through and through."
"He was in shock for a minute, but then he calmed down," added Waffle House employee Tim Grandbury. "We managed the bleeding until paramedics got here." Andrews was taken to the JPS Hospital in Fort Worth. His injury is not life threatening. He later posted a photograph of his wound on Facebook. (Warning: The image is graphic.)
This is the third shooting in North Texas in the past week that has been attributed to road rage.
