1 Dead & 3 Wounded After Arlington Shooting

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - One man was killed and three other people were wounded after gunfire erupted at an Arlington apartment complex early Friday morning. The call came in at about 1:15 a.m. in the 2000 block of Spring Walk Lane, not far from Pioneer Parkway, west of Highway 360.

Two of the victims were taken to Medical Center of Arlington. A third victim was taken to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth. Police in Arlington stated that their injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

Of the four people who were shot, three were men and one was a woman. Their names have not yet been released, but officials did say that all of the victims are in their 20s and 30s.

Detectives were called to the scene and a large area was cordoned off with crime scene tape. Police have since towed away a Cadillac that will be processed by investigators, along with a gun, a bloody shirt and some marijuana which were found in a trash bin. Police said that there is a lot of ground to cover in this case. In addition to the parking lot, authorities are looking at a third-floor apartment unit and a courtyard area.

"There's a large crime scene, four people shot," said Sgt. Jeffrey Houston. "There's several bullets fired and it will be a matter of collecting those and finding where each one went and accounting for all of them."

There has been no official word about a motive for the shooting, and police have not released any information about possible suspects.

Jordan Hunt witnessed a portion of the incident and was later questioned by the police. "Somebody was trying to rob him and he needed help," Hunt said about one of the victims. "I tried to help them out by taking him to the hospital."

Many of the apartment complex's tenants heard the loud commotion and called for help. "I woke up to about 20 gunshots," said resident Nikki Pickard later Friday morning. "I had called 911 just to tell them there had been several gunshots and then, when I saw the police sirens, I looked out and saw the police lights, rather, and there was someone laying down in the courtyard."

"It was a little weird," Pickard added. "It was surreal."
