ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Arlington police are investigating a homicide at an apartment complex in the 500 block of North Oak Street.

Someone made an emergency call around 1:00 a.m. saying they heard gunshots near an upstairs apartment and saw people running away from the area.

When officers arrived they found one person injured with a suspected gunshot wound. That victim, later identified as 32-year-old Leroy Miller, was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.

Another person suffered an ankle injury after jumping from the upstairs apartment to the ground in an attempt to flee the gunfire.

"Investigators believe that multiple suspects arrived at the location, knocked on the door, and fired rounds into the apartment striking the first individual," officials said in a statement. Those suspects fled on foot and are still at large.

Officials said they do not believe the shooting was a random act. They say there is some indication that drug activity may have been taking place at the location.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the shooting or the suspects contact homicide Detective Ben Lopez at 817-459-5373. Tipsters can also remain anonymous and contact Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS.
