FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) - Construction of the new Dallas Cowboys headquarters in Frisco continues pushing ahead. The Ford Center at the Star is being billed as more than just a football practice facility. And the team, along with Frisco leaders on Tuesday afternoon, plan to make another big announcement for the project.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will join Mayor Maher Maso and the CEO of Omni Hotels & Resorts for a news conference to talk about plans for the city's first luxury hotel. The announcement is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
The new landscape has definitely started to take shape in this part of Frisco, near the intersection of the Dallas North Tollway and Warren Parkway. Major progress is already being made at the site of what will be a 13-story hotel. The new Omni Hotel is expected to be completed during the summer of 2017.
Nate Elliott is a Frisco resident and concrete specialist working on the new facility. His father was one of the workers who laid the concrete at the old Texas Stadium site in Irving when it was built, giving his family a unique connection to the Cowboys.
Altogether, this is a huge practice facility that will include the new Cowboys headquarters and much more. When the Cowboys are not practicing, the Frisco Independent School District will hold games at the facility and other events will take place inside of there as well. It is scheduled to open this coming summer.
