Old Dominion Tops North Texas 55-48

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Ahmad Caver had 14 points, six assists and three steals to help Old Dominion beat North Texas 55-48 on Monday night.

Caver was just 3-of-13 shooting but he went 6 for 6 from the free-throw line and only had one turnover in 37 minutes.

Old Dominion was held to 18-for-64 shooting (28.1 percent) but the Monarchs made up for it by grabbing 21 offensive rebounds and forcing 14 turnovers.

Zoran Talley added 11 points off the bench for Old Dominion (9-5, 2-0 Conference USA). Brandan Stith had a team-high 10 rebounds, with seven on the offensive end.

ODU opened up a 46-39 lead with 2:21 remaining. Jordan Baker hit a 3 and Denzell Taylor dunked in transition after a Stith steal. Caver hit two free throws with 27.7 seconds left to seal it.

J-Mychal Reese and Derail Green scored 12 points apiece for North Texas (6-8, 0-2). Jeremy Combs grabbed 11 rebounds but North Texas was outrebounded 46-36.

Old Dominion concluded its six-game homestand with a 4-2 record.
