ALLEN (CBSDFW.COM)- A new city is now added to the list of targets for the bedroom jewelry burglar.
First Plano, then North Dallas and now police say the thief is targeting homes in Allen.
Five burglaries happened Thursday near Spring Creek and Jupiter Rd.
One incident a homeowner reportedly had a face-to-face encounter with the burglar.
That homeowner didn't answer when the burglar knocked on the door and scared off the burglar when they tried to break in.
For one family the incident caused a scare partly because their Allen High School student came home and walked in on the burglary.
"I was shaking a lot when I was holding a knife actually," says Jonathan Alvillar, who is still on edge.
"This window right here is the one they came in on."
The 16-year-old came home from school to a broken window so he grabbed a kitchen knife.
"I looked over to my room and I saw a big trail of mud around," says Jonathan.
He nervously followed muddy footprints down the hall.
"I panicked obviously I was fearful for my son," says Jonathan's mother, Maria.
Jonathan's mother raced home just after police arrived to find all her jewelry and watches gone.
Allen Police told her four other nearby homes were also burglarized Thursday.
Plano Police tell CBS 11 News there are strong connections to the Allen, Plano and Dallas burglaries.
"You don't think about this stuff until it happens to you when you become more aware," explains Maria.
The family's dog Sophie was fortunately left behind and this teenager was grateful to avoid a frightening confrontation.
"Yesterday after the police came over I was still shaken up."
Police say the burglar knocks on doors to make sure no one is home.
