North Texas Victim Recalls Hearing Kidnappers Debate Her Fate

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman kidnapped and forced to listen to her attackers debate her fate. Fort Worth police say those men are still on the loose and may be looking for other women as their next target.
CBS 11 News spoke with one woman who fell victim to the two criminals last week.
The first crime happened in Fort Worth. A student heading home from a late shift was at an intersection when, the next thing she knows, a man is standing outside of her car window.
The woman, who does not want to be identified, recalled, "They came up to my door and told me, if I didn't open the door, they would shoot. So, I unlocked my doors. The guy on the passenger side pulled me to the passenger seat and came over and got in my car, and they drove to the Goodwill about a mile down."
For what felt like hours, the 21-year-old North Texas woman was held prisoner in her own car as a pair of kidnappers, one holding a shotgun, discussed what they'd do next.
"They were talking about assaulting me. They were wondering if I had more money on me, which I didn't. I gave them everything I had."
The conversation went on as if the victim wasn't even there. "It was the scariest thing. All I could think in my head was 'I don't want to die. I just want to make it out of this.' That's been the hardest thing, even dealing with it after what happened. I don't want to go through that again."
Fort Worth police released surveillance video showing the duo in action. One man stands by the victim's car, while the other is by their dark-colored, older, four-door sedan. Moments earlier, the crooks had managed to stop the young woman while she was driving, near the Campus Drive and Seminary Drive intersection.
The victim said once her car stopped, "Two guys jumped out. The driver was holding a shotgun. They had bandanas on their faces."
One man forced his way into her car and drove her to a nearby parking lot. Once at the second location, the kidnappers demanded the 21-year-old's cash, credit cards and phone.
"I said, 'Please this is all I have. Why me? This is all I have.'"
Ultimately, the robbers left without hurting the young woman, but authorities believe that the same duo struck again in Forest Hill. A weapon was actually fired during the second crime.
The Fort Worth victim thinks that their actions say it all. "If they can shoot somebody, they can do it to someone else."
The Forest Hill victim was shot in the foot, but was able to drive away and find police. She was hospitalized, but is expected to be okay. In the meantime, the Forest Hill Police Department offered tips to help someone avoid getting into a similar situation.
- Try not to be out in the dark, and always be aware of your surroundings.
- At a stop sign or a stoplight, leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you, just in case you need to drive off quickly.
- If someone is following you, stay on main roads and call the police.
- If you are caught, and a suspect is pointing a gun at you, police said that you should cooperate.
