NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - It's a list no one likes, but everyone can relate to. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) recently released the Top 100 Congested Roadways and unfortunately North Texas has a lot of representation.

According to the Texas Transportation Institute, most of the clogged roadways in North Texas are ones now under construction. And if you ask drivers in the metroplex which highways are undergoing roadwork most will say all of them.

Most all of the highways in last year's Top 20 also made this year's Top 20. North Texas has eight roadways in this year's Top 20.

Coming in at No. 5 is Interstate-35E from Highway183 into downtown Dallas. The No.6 most congested Texas road is in Tarrant County – I-35W on the north side of Fort Worth. Also included in the top was Interstate-635 in Dallas, from I-35E to US 75, I-35W in Fort Worth, from Highway 183 to I-30, and US 75 in Dallas, from I-635 to State Highway Spur 366/Woodall Rodgers Freeway.

Officials with the Transportation Institute say the number of registered vehicles in Texas has nearly tripled in the past 40 years, while highway space has grown by only 19-percent.

TxDOT Interim Deputy Director Marc Williams said, "Our growing communities and worsening traffic congestion in Texas are, in fact, very real."

Interstate-35 in Austin topped this year's rankings.
