DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - It's some of the coldest temperatures North Texans have seen in about two years, and residents are looking to stay warm during this cold snap.

Winter hasn't officially started, but for many, these temperatures would indicate otherwise.

Runners like Leighann Thompson threw on any added warmth they could find so they could continue their workout at Panther Island Pavilion.

"I started getting sniffles - started to get a little numb on my fingertips and toes," said Thompson.

Others like Mike Scobee had their activities like biking cut short due to the cold temperatures.

"The wind really picked up. It's brutal coming back," said Scobee. "I need to go home and grab some wine and get by the fire."

Parents in Plano were shivering through the cold as they watched their children's soccer games.

"It's only for her. She better be very grateful one day!" said resident Anna Gonzalez.

MedStar also implemented its cold weather response protocol Saturday as result of the chilling weather.

MedStar says it so far has received three cold-related calls. Two were transported to John Peter Smith hospital with minor injuries.
