Grapevine Man Dies After Fall At Grand Canyon

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK (CBSDFW.COM) - Officials in Arizona have confirmed that a man who fell to his death in the Grand Canyon was from North Texas.

According to officials at the Grand Canyon Media Office, on Saturday, March 15 the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center was contacted about a man who had fallen. The report said the incident occurred at the canyon rim, near the El Tovar hotel.

Rangers at the national park were later able to locate of 53-year-old John N. Anderson of Grapevine. Anderson had fallen about 350 feet. Rangers immediately began CPR, but were unable to resuscitate him.

Officials say Anderson was visiting the park with family.

The National Park Service, in coordination with the Coconino County Medical Examiner, is conducting the investigation into the incident.
