FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — A Fort Worth man faces charges of kidnapping and sexual assault after police found two young runaway girls at his home.
Fort Worth police said in a statement Sunday that officers conducting a welfare check at a home, in the 8400 block of Tanner Avenue, Saturday encountered Robert B. Harris. Police say the 49-year-old man told officers there were two young girls at his residence who were "possible runaways."
Officers confirmed the girls had been reported as runaways from Abilene earlier this month.
The statement says an investigation revealed "criminal activity" occurred while the girls were with Harris, who is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of aggravated kidnapping.
Jail records show Harris is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail. A police spokesman didn't know if Harris had an attorney.
The FWPD Crimes Against Children Unit (CACU) is leading the investigation.
