ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM)- Arlington firefighters battled a house fire in North Arlington in the 2600 block of North Cooper Street.
The fire broke out the early morning hours Saturday at 8,200-square-foot $2.5 million mansion.
Officials said the fire started in the basement of the three-story home, which was built in 1992.
Flames spread and quickly became too much for firefighters, forcing them to assume a defensive stance.
The unusual construction in the home made it hard to find the fire initially, according to Arlington firefighters.
It took about 60 firefighters and 19 units to respond to the fire, dealing with temperatures around 40 degrees.
The owner of the home is out of town. No injuries were reported. The fire is still under investigation.
The home was completely destroyed.
