SURPRISE, AZ (105.3 THE FAN) - The Texas Rangers held a press conference at Spring Training in Surprise Wednesday morning to give the latest update on Yu Darvish's arm injury.

GM Jon Daniels confirmed that season-ending Tommy John surgery was recommended for Yu's elbow injury, but the team will seek a third opinion.

According to reports, Darvish met with Daniels Tuesday night following his return from a doctors visit in New York, the doctor that the Rangers were seeking the second opinion from.

Even though the club wants another specialist, Dr. Andrews, to evaluate Yu's recent MRI results they are expecting the opinion to be the same as the first two - and that surgery could be scheduled as early as next week.
