No Curtains For Cowboys, Jones Says "Key To Stadium Is Flexibility"

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - AT&T Stadium in Arlington has hosted many grand events in it's short lifetime. Everything from major NFL events, soccer matches, boxing matches, concerts, bull riding, motor cross and more.
When it was being built, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wanted it to be a place for everything. "The key to the stadium is flexibility" said Jones.
"It was built to be like a theater in New York" said Jones. "You can change it out from whatever type of presentation/show you want to do."
So when the question comes up about the East/West orientation of the field of play for Cowboys games, and the setting sun shining brightly on the field Jones thinks it can be used as an advantage.
"You've got to know your stadium, you've got to know how to play in certain conditions of your stadium" said Jones, who went on to explain the time of days and the factor of weather conditions outside the stadium having an effect on play.
But will the Cowboys look to add curtains to block the sometimes blinding sun?
"We can do things that might mitigate the sun" said Jones.
Jones even recalled how the NY Giants had a 'wind draft' at their former stadium that they often took advantage of.
"They knew it, they knew how to work that wind good" said Jones. "They knew how to open and shut doors - it's almost legendary."
Jones even revealed that the Cowboys knew of, and took advantage of, an 18" drop from the crest of the field to the corner of the end zone at the old Texas Stadium in Irving. "Boy, did we play that in making pass completions right and left - it was an important thing for us, it caught the opposing teams off-balance" said Jones.
