FRISCO (105.3 THE FAN) - The NFL and NFL Players Association combined this week to announce more powerful enforcement of the NFL Game Day Concussion Protocol, including a "strict and fair process to investigate incidents and determine appropriate discipline" for violators, according to a press release from the two parties

The discipline for NFL teams violating the concussion protocol can include fines and the forfeiting of draft picks.

A team's first violation will require the team's employees or medical team members involved to attend remedial education; and/or result in a maximum fine of $150,000 against the team.

Second and subsequent violations will mean a minimum fine of $100,000 against the team.

Should the commissioner determine that a team's medical team failed to follow the protocol due for competitive reasons, the commissioner may force the team to forfeit draft picks and may impose additional fines exceeding the preset amounts.
