NFL Bag Policy Coming To Cotton Bowl
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - In order to ensure the safety of college football fans this season, the Cotton Bowl in Dallas will be implementing the same bag policy now used at NFL stadiums across the nation. The new rules go into effect starting September 27, with the Southwest Airlines State Fair Classic between the Grambling State Tigers and the Prairie View A&M Panthers.
Fans are asked to leave their oversized bags and purses at home. Only clear bags no more than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches will be allowed at the game, along with a small clutch bag. Gallon-sized clear plastic freezer bags are also permitted, as are any small bags about the size of a person's hand, with or without a handle or strap.
Stadium officials will also allow fans to bring in smartphones, cameras and binoculars.
The list of banned items includes:

-- Backpacks
-- Fanny Packs
-- Cinch Sacks
-- Luggage
-- Computer Bags
-- Camera Bags
-- Seat Cushions
Fans will be required to pass through security screenings and bag inspections by stadium workers at the designated gates.
Football fans should already be familiar with the bag rules. The NFL already uses these same restrictions at their team stadiums, including AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
These new restrictions are meant to increase security and speed up entry into the stadium. "Fans attending games at the Cotton Bowl deserve to be in a safe and secure environment," explained Dallas councilman Dwaine Caraway in a statement. "Public safety has and will continue to be our top priority. This measure will provide a safer environment and create a quicker experience at the gates."
