New National High School Soccer Scoring Record In Fort Worth

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Esmerelda Gonzales, a senior at South Hills High School, broke a national record Thursday night.

Gonzales scored eight goals (three before halftime) against Trimble Tech giving her 293 in her high school career.  The old record was 286.

"It's hard and it gets rough but if you really want to accomplish that goal, you can accomplish it anyway through all the tears, all the pain, everything," said Gonzales after the match.

Gonzales says she's been playing soccer since she was four years old and she's excited to see what comes next.
