OAK CLIFF (CBSDFW.COM) – Renovation of an Oak Cliff home uncovered what appear to be human remains.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner has removed bones found alongside a house on the 700 block of Winnetka, but could not definitely say Thursday night whether they are, in fact human.

Property records show realtor, Fred Robertson, bought the home this summer.

Robertson declined comment, but neighbors say he's been remodeling the home to re-sell it.

They say he and a worker were at the house Thursday afternoon, when the two tried breaking apart a concrete slab in the backyard.

Police say the men discovered what looks like a human body.

"There's always police coming out," said Chris Cook, who lives across the street.

Cook said the previous owner often caused trouble in the community.

"My kids would walk through here and for no reason he would chase them," said Sofia Garcia.

At some point over the last year, neighbors say he disappeared.

"We haven't seen him for 9 months. For a while he was renting to some real seedy characters and I know there was conflict and he threw them out," said Cook.

Neighbors say, after years of drama, they're prepared for just about anything.

"There's no telling who is under that slab," said Cook.

"It'd be sad if it's him," said Garcia.
