FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) — Loved ones came together Sunday night to mourn the loss of a little girl and her father killed in a suspected murder-suicide.

The crowd outside Jorge Flores' home grew as friends, neighbors and loved ones gathered to pay their respects. Less than 24 hours earlier, neighbors got their first sign that anything in the home was wrong.

"I heard somebody screaming, and then the lights came through the kitchen window. And that's when I came out here and saw her crying, the mother," said Audrey Tisby, whose family lives a few houses down from Flores.

Police say family members discovered 37-year-old Flores and his daughter, 11-year-old Angela, inside the home. The girl was visiting her father for the weekend after he and her mother recently separated.

"It's my understanding she was coming to pick her up, and when she got here and entered the house, that's what she came across," Tisby said.

The news stunned those living nearby who only knew the family as model neighbors.

"I was so shocked," Joe Howard, who lives next door, said. "I told them, I said, 'That's not Jorge. I can't believe it.'"

A murder-suicide is the last thing he would have expected from his neighbor.

"He would do anything for you," Howard said. "He trimmed my trees up there, cut all the... [A] storm come through; he got up there, cut all the limbs and the stuff off, and he wouldn't charge me a dime."

Homicide detectives will continue to investigate, but police say for now there are no other suspects. Many are left with little to explain what could have led up to those final moments.

"They're the perfect family, you would have thought," Tisby said. "Not knowing that something was wrong 'cause they was always happy. Always."

A spokesperson for Fort Worth ISD tells us counselors will be available for classmates of Angela Flores at Glen Park Elementary when classes resume on Tuesday.
