DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Residents of a Dallas neighborhood are voicing their concerns after a 2-year-old boy was shot in his front yard over the weekend.

The boy, named Jeremy, is recovering today in the hospital, but neighbors are still concerned that this is becoming a common problem.

"I hear gunshots from my back alley almost constantly," says Megan Allman, who lives next door to little Jeremy and his family. "It's become almost normal. And it shouldn't be. It should never be normal to find bullet casings on your roof."

Allman says another problem is cars speeding through their Pleasant Grove neighborhood. Early Sunday morning, a car had sped past the house on Seco Blvd where Jeremy and his family were still awake from a birthday party.

After the family yelled at the car to slow down, it later came back and two men opened fire on them.

"My mom heard the gunshots," says Allman. "We found out the next day that Jeremy was shot in the lung and needed two surgeries."

The little boy might need to be in the hospital for another two weeks. His father and another man were also shot but have been released.

Allman says her 7 and 2-year-old kids are not allowed out front anymore.

"I'm worried someone's going to speed past at 50 or 60 miles and hour, jerk the steering wheel and end up in the front yard," she says. "Or worse, if I yell at them to slow down, they'll come back and shoot my house up."

Dallas police are still looking for the suspects involved in the shooting. They believe the car being driven was maroon and either a Ford Crown or Mercury Sable.
