TARRANT COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - An east Fort Worth neighborhood is on edge tonight after a gruesome discovery nearby. Police found a burning body in a field off of Cravens Road late Monday night. Sources say they found the body wrapped in a rug and burning in that field.

People who live near the site say they're afraid of who might be lurking in the thick brush that surrounds the area and backs up to their homes. "That's scary," said Rosie Lee who lives near where the body was found.

Lee was shocked to learn police found the body of what the medical examiner thinks is a woman wrapped in a rug and set on fire. The body is so badly burned it will take X-rays and dental records to identify the person. Investigators are looking into whether an accelerant was used. Neighbors say the thick foliage here provides cover for suspicious activity.

"I have seen quite a few people walking past going to that field," Lee said. "You know, I don't know what they're doing back there."

Lee says she relies on her dog to let her know when strangers are near. But with the gruesome discovery near her home she plans to be even more vigilant tonight.

"I sure will be on the lookout though, more aware of my surroundings," Lee said. "I pity the fool that tries to get through the door. That's all I can say. God is going to bless him!"
