Neighbor Saves 7-Year-Old From Fire

CARROLLTON (CBSDFW.COM) – A 22-year-old woman ran into her neighbor's burning house in Carrollton to save a 7-year-old boy.
"You have to do this… you have to go find this kid," said Mariella Medina.
The fire started in a shed behind the home and started to spread to the house. Medina saw the smoke Monday as she returned from a late night trip to the gym.
"The flames were well above the trees," Medina said. "Just a giant bright orange flame."
Seven people lived inside. A mother and father, a cousin, newborn twins and brothers, ages 6 and 7.
"The mom and another family member came flooding out with two babies in their arms," said Medina.
Medina called 911, and the family did a head count. The oldest boy, 7-year-old Xavier, wasn't there.
"She just said, I think he's still inside," said Medina. "As soon as she said that, it was just like, okay, I have to go inside, I have to go get the kid."
Medina said the boy was still in bed on the second floor. The moment was recorded on the 911 call.
"Come on, there's a fire. Come on baby," you can hear on the recording. "Come on! Hurry, hurry!"
Medina grabbed the boy and rushed him down the stairs. Fire fighters showed up shortly after and dowsed the flames.
"Something could have actually happened," Medina said. "But as it was going on, none of that crossed my mind. It was one tracked. There's a kid inside. Only priority."
