Neighbor Helps Two Escape Burning Mobile Home

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) — Two people landed in Parkland hospital after a mobile home was sent up in flames Sunday morning thanks to "smoking," according to the Fort Worth Fire Department Arson Investigations Unit.
Officials say fire crews arrived at the 11000 block of Fumar Lane to find a fire burning the side of the mobile home. The two occupants, a woman and a 69-year-old man, escaped with the help of their next-door neighbor.
Careflite transported the man to Parkland hospital with second-degree burns, and the woman refused treatment at the scene for minor injuries. The neighbor, a 46-year-old woman, went to the hospital, as well, with non-life threatening injuries.
The family's dog was also rescued, but they lost two birds in the fire.
The American Red Cross is helping the family with basic needs and shelter.
The Fort Worth Fire Department Arson Investigations Unit determined "smoking" caused the fire.
