Nearly Two Dozen Positive WNV Mosquito Tests In Tarrant County

TARRANT COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - Since April 1, Tarrant County Public Heath (TCPH) has tested 1,923 mosquito samples and 23 samples have tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV)– Arlington (2), Crowley (3), Fort Worth (6), Grapevine (1), Hurst (1), Lake Worth (1), North Richland Hills (1), Pantego (1), Richland Hills (1) and Unincorporated Tarrant County (6).
Most recently, TCHP has confirmed the presence of WNV in a mosquito sample collected in Southwest Tarrant County - in the unincorporated area around Bucking Bronc Dr.
Weather permitting, TCPH will begin ground spraying efforts Friday, July 10, 2015. Ground spraying will start at 9 p.m. and conclude by 5 a.m. the following morning.
In an effort to inform the public, TCPH has issued a notification to neighbors in the area and will continue notifications throughout the weekend.

TCPH would like to remind residents of the importance of taking personal protective measures to safeguard against West Nile Virus. Residents should routinely dump standing water on their property, use repellent, and dress for dusk to dawn.
