The Longhorns looks for their first 3-0 start since winning its first four games in 2012. The Golden Bears look to bounce back from a loss at San Diego State and win in their home opener.

KEY MATCHUP

Texas running game vs. Cal front seven. The Longhorns are averaging more than 200 yards a game on the ground led by D'Onta Foreman, Chris Warren III and the power-running backup QB Tyrone Swoopes. That will provide a stiff test for a Bears defense that is allowing an FBS-worst 6.8 ypc and 291 yards per game on the ground this season.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Texas: QB Shane Buechele. In just two games, Buechele has already matched Bobby Layne's school record for TD passes for a freshman in a season with six. Buechele has completed 71.7 percent of his passes for 524 yards with only one INT.
California: QB Davis Webb. The graduate transfer from Texas Tech gets to face his home-state team for the first time. Webb is off to a fine start at Cal, tying for the national lead with nine TD passes to go with 983 yards passing through two games.
