Murder Charge For Man Accused Of Bringing Kidnapped Clerk To North Texas

COLLEGE STATION (CBSDFW.COM/AP)A man already jailed in the kidnapping and assault of a College Station convenience store clerk last month has been served with a warrant for murder following the victim's death.

College Station police said Monday that a warrant adding the charge of murder had been served for 36-year-old Nathaniel Tillery. He was already in Brazos County Jail on previous charges of kidnapping, assault and robbery. His bail is now at more than $1 million. Jail records don't list an attorney.

Kevin Garcia, 55, was found in the bed of his pickup in Haslet more than 10 hours after his March 17 kidnapping from the College Station convenience store. Garcia suffered brain damage from the assault and remained in a coma before his family made the decision to remove him from life support on March 20.

Before making the decision to end mechanical support, Garcia's sister, Denise Etherton, told CBS 11 News, "You feel like there's no hope because of the lack of oxygen. And this is what his life would be until the heart says no more? Is that really a life? I don't know. I'm running out of relatives. I don't want to let him go."

Garcia had been a clerk at the Exxon convenience store in College Station for 14 years.
