Road rage incident causes multi-vehicle I-20 crash in Arlington: Police

Multi-vehicle wreck leads to closure on I-20 in Arlington

ARLINGTON – An apparent road rage incident led to an accident involving a truck rolling on its side, an SUV overturning and a portion of I-20 being shut down Wednesday morning.

Texas Department of Transportation

The crash happened at about 8:25 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-20 between Cooper Street and Matlock Road.

According to the Arlington Police Department, witnesses said one of the two vehicles involved in the road rage incident while heading east on I-20 "attempted to brake check the other."

"This resulted in traffic behind the two vehicles suddenly trying to stop and swerve to miss other vehicles on the highway," Arlington police said in a news release. "The two vehicles involved in the road rage incident did not stop and continued driving. Unfortunately, we do not have great descriptions of them at this time."

Five vehicles behind the road ragers wrecked, resulting in two people being taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

By 9:40 a.m., all lanes reopened.
