DALLAS (CBS11) - Shot and killed by a man hiding in his passenger seat at a 7-Eleven, the mother of Deangelo Golphin made a plea to the community on Wednesday night in the hopes of finding her son's killer.
Investigators said Golphin was parked at the gas station along the 9000 block of Skillman Street and went inside. While away from his vehicle, security footage shows a man in dark clothing getting inside Golphin's vehicle.
Dallas Police said when Golphin returned to his vehicle, he was murdered. The shooter can be seen in the security footage running from the scene.
"Didn't give him a chance to defend himself. It wasn't a fair fight," said Clara Southern, the victim's mother. "I plead with you as a mother, you would not want to go through this. My heart has been shattered."
Like investigators, Southern does not know why her son was targeted.
"It was a senseless killing. Senseless," said Southern. "I don't know of any enemies. All the people I've talked to, they love D.J."
Southern and her family returned to the north Dallas neighborhood near where her son was murdered but no one is talking.
"You know who he is. Turn him in because he will become a menace to your community," said Southern.
Nearly two weeks have passed and Dallas Police are no closer to cracking the case. Investigators still have no names, no leads and no justice for a grieving mother.
"He can run but he cannot hide," said Southern. "It was a cowardly act but right now you can have more manhood than you showed when you took the life of my son."
The description police are working with of the shooter is very vague. They are hoping more people come forward with information that could help lead to an arrest.
