OAK CLIFF (CBSDFW.COM) - A Dallas mother said she was crossing Winnetka Avenue near Canty in Oak Cliff when a red Pontiac blew through the stop sign and slammed into her stroller.

The impact hurt her daughters -- one is five, the other is just 7 months old.

What happened next, was even more shocking. The driver threw it in reverse and took off as neighbors watched in horror.

"I just don't understand what kind of person first of all is driving that fast through our neighborhood, then hits someone and then drives off," said the victim of the hit-and-run, Alexandria Chatfield.

Chatfield said her daughters have some bumps and bruises but are recovering.

Police are searching for the car and driver.
