Monday Morning Meltdown: Cowboys 31, Jaguars 17

105.3 THE FAN -- It was a game we expected to win right?

Then why were we so worried leading up to it?

-- The Jaguars are bad. They are young at key positions and they tend to make big mistakes that cost them games. That being said, the Cowboys haven't proven they can put away teams like that, and that is what concerns a lot of weary fans. Thanks for setting our nerves at ease Coach Garrett's team.

-- Found out Brandon Carr got his first career sack. Now he can say he's done that. And Demarco Murray only needs to rush for 100-yards 3 more times to break Emmitt Smith's (11) franchise record for most 100-yard games in a season.

-- And I have to give credit to Tony Romo. Not for being tough and playing through injury, not for making the trip despite broken process, but for being so efficient with 20-of-27 for 246 yards and 3 TD's with a 138.8 rating.

Sure it was the Jags, but imagine if our last image of him was running out on the field against Washington and losing the game, and then he didn't get a chance to go back out onto the field until a Sunday Night game at New York nearly 4 weeks later. He has confidence now and knows what he can and can't do during the bye week.

The Rest of the NFL

-- Aaron Rodgers clearly owns the Bears' defense. When I say owns, I mean he's paying them right? The way he sliced them up on the big stage at home was outright humiliating. Sure I have him as fantasy QB, but even still, I felt bad for the Bears. Until I realized A) Oh yeah Jay Cutler is their QB and B) they broke his collar bone last year.

-- What are the three great motivators for athletes people?

Revenge, contract season and fun babies. Those things will make you focus more than anything in the world.

Rodgers is the most vindictive person ever based on last night's results. Or the Bears are terrible.

-- Welcome back Calvin Johnson. Crap. They are playing good defense in Detroit, they've been able to get by with a not-full-strength offense and now Megatron is back in the building. Nobody saw them at 7-2 preseason, but here they are despite Matthew Stafford's 13-8 TD-INT ratio. BTW, is it more grown up to go by Matt or Matthew? Ask your Matt/Matthew friends and get back to me.

-- The Jets have two wins, and one of them is over Roethlisberger's Steelers. I saw a tweet saying that a bookie had $24 for the Steelers to every $1 on the Jets. Somebody is busy raking in the cash today.

-- Now for our Peyton Manning update. Though this one will be less Manning and more Demaryius Thomas. Since his 226 yard performance against Arizona Oct. 5, he's had 6 straight games of 100 yards or more and compiled 861 yards. Dude is a beast and I'll say it again, I think he's a better receiver than Dez, but I think it's because his QB allows him to beat everybody on the field. If that isn't enough, Emmanuel Sanders has 379 yards and 6 TD's in his last 4 games.

-- Are the Seahawks back?

Marshawn Lynch had 4 TD's and 140 yards on 21 carries while Russell Wilson completed 10 passes for 172 yards. I'd say that's the formula they want. Wilson isn't going to win you a game but he won't lose it either if he CAN be efficient. His numbers prove he isn't a quantity but a quality guy and if Lynch is Beast Mode, the Seahawks play with a completely different grind to them.

Hoops?

The Mavs lost to the Heat, which is the most irritating thing in the world to me. Because now they are without Lebron and I can hate any team led by Dwyane Wade. He stole something that was ours Mavs fans, never forget that.

I always like to play the "slow playing them" card, with a feel that big ticket regular season games don't mean much if you are trying to learn from them. But, I want to punish the Heat all the time. Still, if the Mavs learned something in this game that could help them if they see the Heat in the Finals, I'm okay with it. Just ask Greg Popovich what his teams learn when all his best players suddenly have a night off, well the opponent didn't learn anything about them.

One thing I learned, if Devin Harris struggles, this team is not right.
