FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) -  Two Fort Worth mothers are waiting to meet with administrators at Morningside Middle School. Their daughters missed the bus that would have taken them home on Wednesday.

The mothers say what happened next, left the children no choice, but to walk several miles.

Paris Smith and Monique Smith say their 6th grade daughters told them they were not allowed back inside the school building once their bus left, so the girls walked four miles home to an apartment complex.

Fort Worth Independent School District officials began looking into the incident, and determined that a teacher dismissed class late -- one minute after the buses left.

When administrators reviewed surveillance cameras on campus they learned more.

They say the footage shows Paris Smith's daughter exiting the school building after dismissal, then re-entering the building and walking within a few feet of an administrator, before turning around and walking back outside.

A Fort Worth ISD spokesperson says administrators at Morningside are working to set up a meeting with the parents to show them the footage, and answer any questions they have.
