ARLINGTON (CBS11) - Major League Baseball confirms it's investigating Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish, according to the Japan Times.

This is in the wake of his brother, Sho being charged last year with running an illegal gambling ring that allegedly took bets on MLB games.

MLB is conducting an investigation to find out if there's any link between Yu and the reason for his younger brother's arrest.

Yu Darvish issued the following statement Tuesday through his representatives at the Wasserman Media Group:

"I am not and have never been involved with gambling activities. While I understand that Major League Baseball must conduct an investigation, I am certain that they will find that I had no involvement in this matter whatsoever. I will not comment on this matter again out of respect for Major League Baseball's investigation and I am focused on preparing for the upcoming season."

CBS11 reached out to the Rangers.  They would not comment other than to say, "It's standard operating procedure that MLB looks into these types of situations."
