WYLIE (CBSDFW.COM) - The search for a missing mother in Wylie ended just a few blocks away from her home. A private search team found Almaz Gebremedhin's body in a pond on Sunday, and investigators are now trying to determine what went wrong.

The Collin County Medical Examiner's office is now in the process of confirming the victim's identity. Meanwhile, several of Gebremedhin's friends visited the family at their home on Monday to comfort the distraught relatives. Authorities are also talking to her husband in hopes of getting some clues as to what could have happened.

Police pulled Gebremedhin's minivan out of a pond at Muddy Creek Farms on Sunday. The water is located just off of a road that she often used to get to and from work before sunrise each day. Authorities did not previously search the pond because there were no tire tracks leading to it and the surrounding fence did not appear to be damaged.

However, after Gebremedhin went missing weeks ago, the victim's husband had hired a private detective to assist in the search. That detective then brought in a crew from Illinois, which used sonar equipment to locate the minivan in the water. The Wylie Police Department does not have sonar equipment.

Sgt. Donna Valdepena with the Wylie Police Department has an idea of what may have happened. "I believe there is some damage to the fence, but hte kind of fence it had, it had come back up and replaced itself, is what appears to ahve happened," she explained. "So, there is, upon a closer look, damage to the fence. But it's not anything from the eye or the homeowner saw."

Police hope that the car's black box will provide clues as to what happened. Officials are also talking to Gebremedhin's husband about any possible medical issues that she may have had, which could have caused her to run off of the roadway.
