DALLAS (CBSDFW) - Texans are casting early ballots in greater numbers than ever.

In the states' ten largest counties, Texans have so far cast more than 2 million ballots in early voting, which continues through Friday. That breaks all previous early voting turnout records across the state.

Some counties have seen increases between twenty and thirty percent in the number of early votes cast, compared to 2008 and 2012.

The increase in some counties is attributed to large populations growth in some parts of the state.

Some election administrators also cite more polling stations and better communication as factors in getting voters out in greater numbers.
