MIDLOTHIAN (CBSDFW.COM) - Midlothian police say officers are okay after they were involved in a shooting in the 5200 block of Charisma Drive.

Officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance just after 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to police, witnesses say the officers were confronted by an armed man upon arrival.

Officers demanded the man drop his gun, but, instead, the man turned toward an officer and posed a deadly threat, police say.

An officer proceeded to shoot the armed man according to police.

Midlothian Emergency Medical Services were already at the scene and began to render aid to the man.

According to police, the man was transported to a nearby hospital and his condition is unknown.

Police are currently investigating the shooting and have requested help from the Texas Rangers.

Identities of those involved have not been released.

Neighbors say a man and woman lived at the home where the shooting occurred, and they'd never seen police at the home before Saturday.

"We'd only seen them a few times. They seem like a really nice couple. It's a shock to come home and see lights and tape," said neighbor Abby Knowles. "With the way the world is now, I'm very happy and relived that no cops were injured."
