DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -Mesquite Police Department is reviewing how police handled the chase that ended in a deadly crash Tuesday.

Police were following 27-Year-Old Jarron Williams after receiving reports that his driving was suspicious.

The chase ended in that deadly crash. Mesquite PD has a very strict pursuit policy.

There is surveillance video of the East Dallas crash and aftermath video of the damage.

A department spokesperson said Mesquite Police were following the DWI suspect for several miles, they waited to turned their lights and sirens on until he was nearly exiting the highway.

In most cases, an officer involved in a chase will check with his superiors periodically to make sure they are not putting the public at risk by continuing.

Last night Mesquite PD said they didn't have time to do that because the chase only lasted a few minutes.

One thing the department will review is the original claim the suspect was driving while intoxicated or impaired.

Mesquite PD will review any dash cam video, and audio recordings from last night to make sure their policy was followed.

Seven vehicles were involved in the crash. Williams crashed his car into a Mercedes SUV pinning a woman against a gas pump.

58-year-old Stephen Fox died after the suspect slammed into his vehicle. Another woman said her car caught on fire.

She and her elderly mother were inside.
