Mesquite PD Arrest Man Involved In Fatal Hit-And-Run Accident

MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) - The Mesquite Police Department arrested 41-year-old Jorge Valdez-Martinez who, according to police, caused a car accident Friday night in the 2800 block of westbound I-30.

According to police, Valdez-Martinez was the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe when he rear-ended a 2008 Toyota Corolla, which caused a chain reaction crash that involved a total of four cars and an 18-wheeler.

According to police, Valdez-Martinez fled on foot from the scene of the accident.

A security officer, Joseph Ford, followed Valdez-Martinez and assisted Mesquite police in locating and arresting him according to police.

According to police, the driver of the Toyota Corolla was transported to an area hospital, but died as a result of injuries from the crash.

Police said Valdez-Martinez was believed to be intoxicated and was charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle.
