MESQUITE(CBSDFW.COM) - Mesquite residents have a new option to properly retire United States flags.  The Mesquite Fire Department.

Zach Evans, the son of a Mesquite Fire Department Lieutenant, recently completed his Eagle Scout project by building a flag retirement box for each of Mesquite's fire stations and the administrative office. Details are available here.

The Mesquite Fire Department has joined with the Boy Scouts of America to provide the city's first Flag Retirement Collection Box.

The public may take a United States flag that is worn or tattered and in need of retirement, to any Mesquite Fire Station or the Fire Administration Office at Municipal Center, 1515 N. Galloway Avenue.

Once a collection box becomes full, a local Boy Scout troop will ensure the flags are retired in a proper and respectful manner.
