PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - Police responded to a single-vehicle crash in Plano early Thursday morning, and the driver was later pronounced dead. It happened at around 3:45 a.m. along the northbound service road of the Dallas North Parkway, just north of Parker Road.

According to authorities at the scene, the driver appears to have had some sort of medical emergency, which likely caused him to slam his car into a wall. Police said that the victim did not appear to be badly hurt from the crash, but was in poor condition because of his medical issue.

The victim was rushed to Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, but he later died. His name has not yet been released. There were no signs of alcohol being a factor in this crash.

"We don't think, at this point, that the crash caused this guy's death," stated David Tilley with the Plano Police Department on Thursday morning. "The amount of damage and witness observations are not consistent with a crash causing the death of this driver."

The service road was shut down early Thursday morning while police conducted an investigation. The roadway has since been opened back up to traffic.
