ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Some North Texas high school students were a little star struck today. Actor Matthew McConaughey was in the house.

McConaughey is in town to meet with high school students who are part of his community outreach program, Just Keep Livin.

The program encourages students from inner-city schools to get smarter and stronger through exercise and community service.

About 60 students from Fort Worth, Dallas and Arlington took part in various field activities and visited with McConaughey at the Texas Rangers Youth Ballpark.

This is the fifth year of the program. In the first four years nearly 90% of the student participants have shown marked improvements in their academic performance and attendance.

The actor's biggest piece of advice to today's students?

"The things you have to do in life," explained Matthew McConaughey, "Once you sit down and decide you have to do it, we usually do it better and it goes by quicker, if you say, 'I'm going to find a way to enjoy doing it.'"
